Your feelings are not your reality
"What you feel ≠ Who you are"
When certain things happen in my life, it gives rise to thoughts. If I dwell on these thoughts & they happen to be negative, they in turn, result in negative feelings. If I let my negative feelings become my truth, I am then trapped in a very negative reality. Idk about you friends, but that messes me up so much.
I could go from feeling left out that one time, to believing I am always excluded. One experience of feeling unloved could turn into months of self doubt & feelings of unworthiness. The more I dwell on & feed my negative feelings, the more they grow & consume me.
BUT, if I take captive every thought & seek God's opinion BEFORE my own, His truths illuminate my situation. His reality for me, dispels my speculations & negative assumptions.
Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Put into practice the example of all that you have heard from me or seen in my life and the God of peace will be with you in all things.
Philippians 4:8-9 TPT
God gave us feelings for a reason. They are good indicators for what's going on inside us, but they are not our truths. They are not reliable guides for decision making nor drawing conclusions.
Instead, God wants to be our guide. He wants His truths to be our reality. He wants how we feel, to drive us to rely on Him.
We were not made to reflect our negative feelings. We were made to reflect His love & eternal goodness🥰
