When we think of the Garden of Eden, most of us may know the story as Adam and Eve’s disobedience to God.
As I read the passage again, God was speaking to me about how He is our Provider, and our Glorious Master.
Eden means paradise where “every tree is for food for the man.” And where “God put man in the Garden of Eden to work it and to keep it.” [Genesis 2:15] God placed all these in place and gave man an abundance of food and beautiful things because He is our wonderful Provider. Adam had to also exercise stewardship of tending for the garden under His Lordship! I can only imagine what a privilege and joy it was working for The Master as Adam reaps and sows while surrounded by God’s beautiful creation.
He is our Provider and our Glorious Master.
Life in the Garden of Eden wasn't just about the food or about the job but about the relationship with God. He gave a gracious command that revealed the heart of men yet provided redemption thousands of years later. As I pondered on this passage, He was tugging on my heart and asking me, will you trust Me? Can you trust that in the deep waters I have also gave you an ocean of grace?
He is our generous giver and glorious master. I pray that today, we will renew our minds and guard our hearts with His Truth. Comfort those who are struggling to experience your abundance and joy and help us to learn how generous you are, that we are made to serve You as we look forward to the garden we will all be in because of Jesus. Amen.
